Privacy Policy

What we store

• Your email address and display name, so you can sign in and appear in stories.
• An optional profile picture, if you upload one.
• The stories you take part in, including the words you write and when you wrote them.
• A device token if you enable push notifications, and your email notification preferences.
• Your preferred language, so emails arrive in the right one.
• A record of what you do in the app — creating a story, taking a turn, voting, signing in — linked to your account. It records the action and when, never what you wrote.

Who else sees it

• Other players in a story see your display name, picture and the words you write.
• If the story's creator publishes a finished story, its text and the display names of everyone who wrote it become publicly visible on this site.
• Mailjet delivers our emails. Firebase and the browser push services deliver notifications.
• Sentry receives error reports. We do not send it your session or your story content.
• PostHog processes our usage statistics, on servers in Frankfurt, Germany. Those records are tied to your account, so they are personal data rather than anonymous. Only our servers talk to PostHog — nothing is installed in the app for this, no cookie is set, no identifier is stored on your device, and your IP address is never sent.
• Most of those statistics are things our servers already see, like a story being created or a turn being taken. A few come from the app itself, because nothing reaches our servers otherwise: which screen you are on, whether you started typing something and left without sending it, and which button opened a screen. The app sends them to us, never to PostHog, and it never sends what you typed.

Your choices

• Turn usage statistics off in the app. We collect them on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used, which means you can object at any time and we stop. Doing so does not remove records already collected — ask us if you want those erased too.
• Turn email notifications off in the app, or from the link at the bottom of any email.
• Delete your account from the app. Your stories stay, but they are no longer attributed to you.
• Ask us for a copy of your data, or for it to be corrected or erased.
